Temple Gate Hotel is the perfect base when golfing in Clare and offers preferred rates with all local golf clubs. Two golf courses lie within 2km of the hotel.
The world famous Lahinch (known as Ireland's Saint Andrews) and the Greg Norman designed Doonbeg golf courses are a short distance westward from the hotel.
During 2011 golfers from around Ireland are being invited to play some of the country’s best known and most challenging golf courses as part of the Clare Ultimate Golf Challenge.
In the only competition of its kind in Ireland golfers must play at least five of Clare’s ten golf courses between April and September, after which the top ranking teams will compete in a final to be held at the aforementioned Greg Norman designed links course in Doonbeg on 25th October.
Other participating courses include Lahinch, Dromoland, Ennis, Woodstock, Shannon, Spanish Point, Kilrush, Kilkee and East Clare.
