Testimonials

Second time I've stayed there with a group of friends to enjoy the Craic during an Ireland v Wales rugby match. Location is absolutely superb if you, like us, wanted to stay in Ennis for a few drinks. No taxi costs to consider. All staff very welcoming, particularly in the bar! Enjoyed my bar meal too. Free parking is good. Overall a great place to stay.

This is my favourite hotel in Ennis.  It's literally in the centre of town and within walking distance to every part of Ennis.  The hotel is lovely and the service is brilliant.  The staff is always very friendly and attentive.  The food is also amazing in the restaurant and pub.  They have two different menus as the pub serves classic pub food and has a carvery during lunch, while the restaurant is more upscale with some quite amazing dishes.   They also have a great brunch on the weekends.  Whenever I have friends or relatives come to town we have them stay here.

Paul,

Just a short note to thank you and all the staff of Temple Gate Hotel for your professionalism, kindness and support for our recent Chelsea Supporters Club function. Everything was great and in particular the food was excellent. Thanks again.

“Excellent Hotel”

We had a very pleasant stay in the hotel. It is ideally situated in the town of Ennis. It's in a quiet location but only a few steps from the town. The room was very comfortable. It does not have air conditioning, but that is rarely necessary in Ireland, and the windows open. The bar and the restaurant offer plenty of good eating options. If you need wifi in your room make sure that you book a room with that facility. It's free, but only on some floors until the planned refurbishment has completed. It's available in public areas. The staff were excellent - pleasant and helpful. The car park was easy to find. It's in front of the hotel and was free!

“Oh so very Friendly”

On a recent trip to visit family in Co. Clare Ireland I stayed a couple of nights in The Temple Gate Hotel. After having been impressed on previous visits to both the restaurant and the Hotel Pub I decided a stay for a couple of nights was in order.I was not disappointed; managed by owner John Madden and his son Paul, this hotel concentrates on service with a smile. From Mr. Madden Snr. down to the housemaids and kitchen porters you are met by smiles and the most helpful of staff - so very welcoming and all you would hope for in Ireland. The rooms are more than basic and are comfortable – good value at the price. The food in both the Cordon Bleu Restaurant and the Pub is excellent value for money and again served with a smile and a friendly word. The Temple Gate faces onto a little court yard from which an alleyway leads straight into the town centre, the shops and pubs. There are no massive international chain stores here just very friendly local establishments offering the very best that is Irish. A pub with restaurant to look out for is “Brogans” a two minute walk from the front door of the Hotel.Visit the Temple Gate and enjoy Ireland as you would hope it would be.

"Would recommend if in Clare"

We went to Legend's Restaurant at the Temple Gate Hotel in Ennis on Saturday night. We were on a promotional voucher so wasn't sure what to expect - whether it was a limited menu or the regular one.We got the regular menu, and a very generous pouring of the wine. It did impress us (a party of 4) that they didn't skimp, and would recommend a visit here if in Ennis. The food was wholesome, cooked to perfection and well presented. Service was excellent

Hi Geraldine,

Would just like to thank you for your help leading up to our wedding and to all the staff on the day, we had an amazing day, and everything looked great. Please pass our appreciation on to the staff.

"Central modern hotel with character"

Many modern hotels lack character, and are placed far from the historic center of town. This is an unusual exception. Although there is a new modern shopping mall next to the hotel, just on the other side of the hotel is the courtyard leading to the historic center. The location was perfect, as there are restaurants, shops, and sites just steps away. The staff at the hotel were friendly and pointed us in the right direction.
Would definitely choose this hotel again if I go back to Ennis (and I hope I do!

Hi Siobhan,

I should also like it noted that we were all very impressed with the staff at the hotel, you all couldn’t do enough to help and I am extremely thankful to yourself, Kate and Graham for making my couple of days so much easier.  The Conference went swimmingly and everyone said how pleased they were, accommodation was spot on and poor Graham was running around assisting us. Food was excellent and Thursday night, well all I can say is ‘Wow’!Please pass on my thanks to the management as well.I would certainly recommend The Temple Gate Hotel.

Have a great Xmas and all the best for 2012.

“Excellent Hotel”

We recently stayed in The Temple Gate hotel, loved every minute of our stay. The staff especially Catherine at reception was all very helpful and welcoming. We also had a meal, again I can only compliment the staff for been friendly and extremely efficient, and the food was fantastic, lovely flavours and very well presented. The location was great as is right in the middle of town, beside all the shops.

We will be back. Well done Temple Gate.

"Very pleased overall"

Lovely hotel in town centre within walking distance of all that Ennis has to offer. Great location. Hotel is cosy and has some lovely features. Rooms are modern and comfortable. All in all, would recommend it highly

“Perfect Location”

This was our second stay at the Temple Gate during the Ennis Trad Festival. It's literally in the center of all of the city activities during the festival. Park the car and walk during the festival! The hotel is clean, comfortable and welcoming. For day trips, such as Kilkee or Doolin, Ennis is a good location to launch from. The staff is very accommodating. We were especially impressed with Mags at the front desk. From directions to recommending a late night restaurant she was right on target. Since it is a former convent and in the center of town, not all rooms will have panoramic views. Suggestion, if booking ahead, ask for a room facing the Glor Theatre.

Hi Geraldine,   just a follow up email to convey our complete satisfaction with the way our wedding reception went on Thursday. Everything went perfect and the Bride and myself would like to thank you , Paul, Dermot, Boulash, and all the staff at the Templegate Hotel for an extremely professional and brilliant evening. The way we were treated from the very start , right the way through to the very end was excellent. The food , the service  and the evening could not have been more enjoyable. You and the staff at the hotel have ensured that our memories of the evening will always be looked back on with the fondest of thoughts.

“Excellent choice”

We recently did 3 rooms for 3 nights at the Temple Gate and loved it. Great reservations service (Thanks Kate), wonderful rooms, centrally located and Preacher's Pub was a the perfect way to end the day. I've stayed at the Old Ground before, and liked it okay, but Temple Gate is my choice going forward.

"Fantastic Stay"

Unfortunately we only got to stay one night before we feft the country. Clean rooms, comfortable beds, no noise, great night's sleep. Upon check-in, Kate phoned Bunratty castle for us to arrange a dinner at the medieval feast although I could have sworn that no spaces were available when I checked their website myself. Kate also arranged for a taxi to Bunratty. I will return.

“Great hotel!”

Ennis was the last stop :( on a wonderful tour of Ireland. My room was clean and very comfortable, probably the best bed I slept on all week, and all were good. Food was wonderful and staff very helpful, friendly and knowledgeable about the history of the building. I would highly recommend Temple Gate Hotel for anyone visiting Ennis.

“Sunday lunch with the family”

I recently hadd the chance to experience the carvery in the pub at the Temple Gate Hotel, Ennis. We were just walking in town so it was purely a case we end eating in this place but we were delighted in the end. The chef was at the carvery station describing all the choices, staff was very friendly and patients with the kids and the pub was clean and the food excellent. The chowder was one of the best eaten so far in the west of Ireland. Great experience, & good food. We shall return.

“Great Food, Excellent staff, Highly Recommended”

I recently had the chance to experience the highly acclaimed "Legends" restaurant in the Temple Gate Hotel, Ennis. It has received many awards over the last ten years for its wonderful cuisine. Days prior to my visit, I was discovered to be positive for coeliac disease,
I was a bit lost as to the full extent to the foods that were now off limits to me. I advised the waiting staff of my predicament and was immediately put at ease, the staff informed me of what choices were open to me and even made suggestions that were not on the menu. Excellent experience, good food (despite my restrictions), will return

“Excellent value for money”

Excellent stay over three nights. Staff were really attentive and helpful, food was good, music wasn't our cup of tea but was ok, anyway plenty of music in the town if you want to venture out.
The reception staff had our arrival dates wrong and realising their error upgraded us to an executive room. We were well pleased

“The Templegate-A great Place To Stay in Ennis”
5 of 5 stars

I first stayed in Ennis in 1993. Since then, I have visited this great town more than a dozen times. I have stayed at all three hotels in town(the Queens, The Old Ground, and tthe Templegate) and they are all nice and have their positive attributes. I have, however, for the past seven years stayed exclusively at the Templegate. They have a warm and helpful staff, a great restaurant and pub, and clean and comfortable rooms. Additionally, there is ample parking and they are the best hotel for physical accessability. They always make you feel wecomed and appreciated. I am very much looking forward to staying there again next month. I can recommend this hotel without any reservation, and have done so many times. All of those people who have taken my advice on this have had a great time.- Dave Ring, New York

Hi Siobhan,

The seminar was a great success.   I am so happy we decided to run with the Great Hall.   My initial concerns had been that it may be too big - but it turned out to be just the right size!!      The evening exceeded my expectations - the process from beginning to end was effortless - Graham was a delight to work with - he kept his finger on the pulse - and took whatever steps were necessary at the appropriate time to ensure that everything went off smoothly.       A lot of the feedback from the night was about the hotel and how professional and friendly everyone was.  For my own part I would like to say how much I appreciated all your support.  I felt you understood what I was doing - and your attitude gave me a confidence that everything was going to go well.  Going forward I will be recommending the Temple Gate at every possible opportunity.

“Great location in Ennis!”

The location is probably the best thing the Temple Gate has going for it...hard to find if driving! It is right in the heart of Ennis which I loved! The hotel staff was very friendly and helpful. Ate in the bar/pub which was good...did not try the restaurant.

 “An example of Excellence”

I recently had the pleasure to bring 15 French friends from the south of France to Ennis to play golf. We arrived at the Temple Gate hotel over two hours late (2215) and to our unexpected delight the hotel kept the restaurant open especially for us and provided us with the full choice dinner menu.
The hotel is situated in the centre of Ennis but even so the very comfortable rooms are so silent that one might well be in the country side!
This hotel is just amazing - beautifully designed and friendly but efficient staff. I would recommend the Temple Gate Hotel to anyone.

Trip Abvisor (October 2011)

My sister in law and I enjoyed our stay at the Temple Gate. We were there 3 days when we arrived in Ireland and the last 3 days before we left Ireland. It is a very friendly environment, very conveniently located  in Ennis, clean, good food, nice service, at a reasonable cost. I would be very willing to fill out an evaluation form, and would highly recommend your hotel to others. It felt like a home away from home. I like to walk and run, and found a nice running track and walking path by walking along the river just a short distance. Thank you for your hospitality

Dear Kate and everyone at Temple Gate,

A short note to thank you all again for the wonderful Temple Gate welcome and hospitality given to us last week. From the front desk, to the restaurant, to the bar and indeed the very comfortable bedrooms -we just could not have asked for more.I want to emphasise that the manner we were welcomed on Tuesday night, being 2 and a half hours late, and being offered the full restaurant menu, was simply extraordinary.I have no doubt that if any of the French people or their families ever travel to the Ennis area again Temple Gate will be top of the list!!

Very best wishes for continued success,

“Top class.....again”
5 of 5 stars

This was my 5th stay at this Hotel in Ennis and once again all aspects were up to scratch, the bedroom was spacious , modern and well cleaned, wi-fi was instant and free in the room with no cables neded.

The breakfast was well served, the word served is important here as this is one of the few remaing hotels which actually serves the guest at their table instead of having to wade through pre-heated and soggy hot food from a heating bin.

We had a meal in Legends restaurant and this was well served good food and excellent value, we also used the bar for a carvery lunch and evening meal and again these were first class for quality and price.

The upkeep and decor levels of hotels obviously is a challenge due to wear and tear but anywhere I saw in this hotel was well maintained and looked after, the public toilets off the reception area were spotless and very modern.

We were in the hotel for a conference/meeting and the staff went out of their way to ensure our needs were met.

It's a mark of a well run hotel when the owner is visible and on site frequently, at this hotel this is the norm and it obviously pays off, the hotel is a former religious establishment which is just steps away from Ennis town centre but still retains an air of seclusion to a degree.Stayed September 2011, traveled on business

“Excellent!”

I have used the Temple Gate quite a lot over the last 10 years. I have always found the service, food and atmosphere to be first class for both business and pleasure. You are guaranteed a warm welcome with John Madden and his team operating a really fine establishment!

We recently had the pleasure of staying at Temple Gate Hotel for a friends wedding. From the minute we arrived were so looked after by the staff. Our bedroom was overlooking a courtyard area which is really pretty. The wedding was in the Great Hall and I must say that is the most fabulous venue I have ever been in for a wedding. It is a Church style room, I would really recommend this hotel if you are getting married – have your wedding reception here.

"Excellent location, very friendly and helpful staff not to mention great bar food and spotless rooms”

We stayed in this hotel for the weekend , from the moment we arrived we were welcomed by the very friendly receptionist. Our room was extremely clean. We sampled the bar food on our first night and it was really good and great value. Our stay was in total 140 euro which included a full breakfast on both days. A great hotel to stay in if you are looking for excellent service and value for money

“Temple Gate was serenity”

Temple Gate Hotel in Ennis Ireland was lovely upon arrival. Before you even get to the hotel you pass by lovely trees and flowers and lamp posts. The gardens were beautifully kept. We also happened to see two tiny little kittens in the flowers, which made it even more enjoyable for us. They were snuggling together and the staff made sure to feed them each day. Inside the lobby was warm and welcoming. There was a real feeling of serenity. We were on a tour and really needed to relax from a hectic day. The room was immaculate with twin beds for me and my daughter. It was bright and airy and we felt safe and comfortable. There was a beautifully decorated breakfast room where traditional and American foods were served each morning. We stayed two nights and I would highly recommend The Temple Gate Hotel.

Relaxing, Comfortable, Great Location”

This is my first visit to Ireland, and The Temple Gate was wonderful to call home while here. Location is right the heart of the city, so you can walk to shops, restaurants, cafe's, and pubs (and there are a lot of them). The hotel's restaurant is very good for breakfast, and outstanding for an elegant dinner. The executive rooms have a king bed, good work desk, and ample electric plugs for your gear. Free Wi-Fi too! Parking is free if you drive. However, it's easier to get taxi or a chauffeured tour service to/from Shannon airport or any of the nearby sights. Staff very helpful. We'll be back!

"Best hotel in Ennis, I wouldn't stay anywhere else!!!"

This hotel is fantastic. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay here. I definitely recommend the Executive floor which is fantastic value and the room quality is definitely 4 star. You can tell they have completed a refurbishment on this level and I think they did a great job and FREE WIFI! Now I know Ireland is friendly...but come on, the staff were super friendly and attentive and nothing was any trouble, from printing my boarding passes to offering local advice. I know this is a family run hotel and I don't think anyone works as hard as Paul Madden, GM, to try to supply the best experience for every guest. I definitely think he is doing a fantastic job at the Temple Gate and I would not stay anywhere else while on business or pleasure. Love those executive rooms! Thanks for a great stay. I will be back.

Just to say evening meal was by far one of the best. Hotel was very busy but all the staff were courteous and calm. Excellent quality of food. Service superb; timing of courses perfect.

“Quiet and relaxing, we enjoyed our stay”

We stayed at Temple Gate recently and had a lovely experience. There is free parking and it is in the middle of town, just turn the corner and you are on the main street. The legends restaurant had a great value set menu including lots of fresh local fish in very generous serving, my only complaint would be that I didn't have room left to check out the desert!! The bedrooms were not too modern which is expected in a refurbished historic building but nontheless we managed to pick up the free wifi provided in the foyer in our bedroom. On a last note the receptionist was friendly and great fun.

“Great pub, Great food, Great Value in central Ennis”

Great large pub inside the Temple Gate Hotel. Super friendly Irish service and family run establishment. I have been to the pub and hotel a few times over the years and they have been consistent with their great service and good food. I am surprised that there are few reviews on this place as I think it has the best carvery lunch on the west coast and was voted best place to eat in CLARE. I would definitely recommend to all that if you are in the area or need a place to stay definitely check the Preachers Pub for some great Irish fair and the Temple Gate for their rooms

"Good hotel, great for weddings”

Stayed in an Executive Room at the Temple Gate, not sure what we got for this other than free bottles of water every day and towelling robes that we didn't use. The room was a reasonable size with a lovely duvet and big pillows but the bed wasn't very big. Ennis is a good location for exploring County Clare, but I wasn't that impressed with the town. Fortunately the food in the hotel restaurant is excellent, both the breakfast and especially the dinners, there is also a pub/bistro if you prefer a more relaxed meal. The most attractive part of the hotel is the old chapel that has been preserved within the building and is now used as a function room but looks magnificent dressed up for a wedding.

"1st Wedding Anniversary Dinner - Unbelievable"

My Wife and I celebrated our 1st Wedding Anniversary with dinner in Legends Restaurant on Saturday night. The Restaurant was very busy, with a hen party of 40 woman, a few families and many couples, there was a buzz around the place which was very pleasant.
Some people often think that the food and service on a busy night in a Restaurant can vary and be inconsistent but I can honestly say I was very impressed with both. I worked in the Hotel industry for years and know how difficult it is to please everyone, but the staff in the Restaurant seemed to take it in there stride.
Looking around the dining room, which has a lovely feel to it, the diners appeared happy and the food was coming out without delay, serving a party of 40 is not easy, but there was little fuss around the place and none of the other diners were left waiting or unattended.
The choice of menu was extensive, the set Dinner Menu had a choice of 6 starters and 6 main courses as well as a variety of delicious desserts, which I found impressive and very reasonably priced.
We decided to choose fro the A La Carte Menu. The starters came out exactly how they were described on the menu, and you weren't left guessing as to what was on the plate. I had the blue cheese and black pudding with red onion marmalade which was divine. My wife had the prawn and crab meat dumplings which i had a sneak taste off and they were equally as good. We were washing these down with a bottle of Champagne.
Next to the main course. I decided to go for the fillet steak which i rarely eat on a night out, mainly because as a chef I'm hard to please when it comes to cooking a steak properly. Well have no worries ordering a Steak here, it was cooked to perfection (med), cooked evenly and hot throughout and it was as tender as eating jelly, delicious. My wife had the Lamb Cutlets again cooked medium, there were 4 of them on the plate, and all were cooked perfect. The main courses were accompanied by fresh cooked vegetables (broccoli, cauliflower, carrots and green beans) and garlic gratin potatoes which were lovely and creamy. The main courses were washed down with a bottle of red wine, Badet & Claret which complemented the meal beautifully.
Well onto Dessert, yeah we made room, it would have been a shame not to a least try them, we made it easy for the pastry chef and ordered 2 Eton Mess, which were served in a cocktail glass and very very nice.
To finish, this was one of the best meals I have eaten in years, it was flawless. Complements to the Hotel on a wonderful Restaurant, a real GEM which might no be on the radar for many visitors to Ennis, but don't let this one pass you by, you won’t be disappointed.

“Great Hotel will use again!”

"Great hotel close to Shannon Airport”

We stayed in Temple Gate Hotel the night before our flight out of Shannon. It is a pleasant and clean hotel. The beds were comfortable, and the bathroom was big enough for two girls to share. Although there are not a lot of sights to see in Ennis, the hotel is right in the main area for shops, restaurants and bars. Make sure to check out Cruise's Bar for great music on a Saturday night. I wouldn't suggest staying in Ennis for anything longer than a night, but the Temple Gate Hotel was a perfect place to stay before our flight.

"Food at Temple Gate - a real treat"

We had a lunch today in the Temple Gate Hotel, Ennis, Co. Clare, today. They have a daily carvery lunch in their pub and the food is delicious and very reasonable - excellent value. Although the Carvery is self service, a very kind Duty Manager carried my Wifes' lunch to the table. We both had Chicken in a very light batter with a surround of Parma Ham and both agreed that it was succulent. The Hotel has it's own free car-park, which is an additional bonus, when visiting the Historical town of Ennis.

I just completed another wonderful stay at the Temple Gate 7th-11th July (previous stays July 1999, July 2005, and July 2008) and continue to give highest marks to this hotel and its outstanding staff, in particular this time to Catherine at reception and Cormac and Patricia in the Preacher’s Pub.  Thanks for a great experience!  I’m planning to be back in 2014 and beyond.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at your hotel recently.  My husband and I took his parents to ireland for a long weekend to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary.  We booked our last night in ennis as we were travelling back from Shannon early next morning.  we were warmly welcomed by the receptionist on our arrival.  The rooms were top standard and the meal we had in your award winning reception was top class.

"Fabulous venue for a wedding"

After reading some of the comments, we were a little wary of the standards of this hotel. However, we have just returned from a fabulous stay in this very well run hotel. We also stayed in a suite and although the furniture is a little tired, the room was spacious, clean and extremely comfortable. The staff were amazing, from the front desk who were extremely helpful, to the bar staff who could not do enough for us. The Great Hall was a stunning venue for a wedding and we would definitely return for another stay at this well located Hotel. Thank you to all the Management and Staff, especially Una, for a wonderful stay!

“Great value for money!”

"Stayed 4 nights at the hotel, the staff were very helpful and made us feel welcome. The room was lovely, fresh, clean, and very comfortable, this hotel is value for money, it's a beautiful hotel(former convent) in a perfect location, the shops and pubs and other places of interest were a stones throw away. The breakfast was excellant! good variety of choices, would reccomend the full clare breakfast. The food in Preachers pub was great, the pub staff were very attentive and friendly. Will definitely stay at this hotel again."

"We enjoyed the friendly but classy atmosphere of the hotel. The staff were faultless and were helpful at all times. The fact that we were upgraded was an added bonus which we did not expect. We enjoyed the fact that the Hotel was situated within walking distance of the small winding steets of Ennis. I would thoroughly recommend it to other guests and if the All Ireland Dancing Championships are back in Ennis in two years time we will be staying here again".

"Lovely comfortable hotel"

"We always stay at Temple Gate Hotel, each year when we visit our son in Ennis. The accommodation is spotless, the staff are always very helpful and the food in the restaurant stunning. The position is very good, close to the shops and the hotel is an ideal base to explore all the surrounding areas"

"We had a wonderful stay at Temple Gate Hotel and look forward to visiting again. The staff were all very welcoming and helpful and the food delicous. Would not hesitate to recommend the hotel to friends and family wishing to stay in the area. Ennis is a lovely town and reminded me of how the towns in the UK used to be before we were taken over by chain stores. Many thanks"

"Central location. Accommodating. Perfect for one night in Ennis"

"We had no problem with this hotel. In fact, our room was clean and comfortable. Our view of backs of buildings right below us was a little bit disconcerting though but we ARE in the middle of town to the quaint streets and shops in Ennis. At night, we loved the lights of the Cathedral Spire from our window. It was beautiful. This town filled with boutique shops and a mini mall where locals shop. I felt it was less of a tourist town and we enjoyed that. Ate at Brogans and enjoyed a leg of lamb and plaice fish. Go to Ennis and stay at Temple Gate...It's affordable and a fun town"

"Stumbled upon this hotel while on a short break passing through Ennis. Enquired at desk about B&B for the night and the receptionist could not have been more helpful. Hotel is great location and car parking right outside the front door. We had restaurant to ourselves and I highly recommend the food there. From check in to checkout a pleasure - we will be back again sometime and I most happily recommend this hotel"

The helpfulness and courtesy they extended not just to the Committee but to our guest authors and Festival-goers was very much appreciated. We're already looking forwarded to next year!"

"Great Place to be Stranded!!!

"We were put up by Virgin Altantic at the Temple Gate as we couldn’t fly in to London as per plan. The converted convent made for a beautiful hotel, the staff was pleasant (more so after they got used to having loads of noisy Nigerians :)) and the food, good.
The Library was the best part. Pleasant ambience and many happy hours spent with wifi, music, new friends and Irish whisky!!!
I actually forgot to be upset about being stranded for 2 days with little communication from Virgin. Thank you for taking the time to send this complimentary feedback following your “unexpected stay” at Temple Gate Hotel.  We are delighted that you found the hotel a welcome retreat during your extended stay in Ennis and look forward to welcoming you back for a planned vacation in 2011

Temple Gate Hotel...great location, great food, and great staff.

While touring the UK and Ireland we were fortunate to find The Temple Gate Hotel in Ennis, Ireland. The front desk staff;especially Katie O'Connor, was always very friendly and helpful. The proprietor, John Madden, was very welcoming. He took the time to greet us every day, and answer our questions. He cares about his guests and it shows with his staff. The hotel is clean, quiet, and has a lovely restaurant which serves delicious food. The hotel is located within walking distance to town. We hope to return to Ireland someday, and we will definitely stay at the Temple Gate Hotel. Dr. & Mrs. H.C. F. Virginia Beach, Va.

"Excellent Service! Nice Clean Rooms, and Good Food

We were put here by Virgin Atlantic because of the storm and could not land at Heathrow. The Hotel made a bad situation very pleasant. Considering we had places to go as some of us were connecting the hospitality of the hotel was *****.

We arrived at past 12 midnight and they had a full buffet ready for us at the time, for a party of more than 80 people. We were split into 4 hotels around Ennis. True Irish hospitality.

I will most definitely recommend this hotel and if i ever find myself in Ennis will most definitely come here. again

The traditional Irish welcome is  alive and well in this hotel. Beautifully decorated. Particular thanks to Patrick, Magda and Yan who looked after us. Perfectly located and staff were very genuine. Our every need was catered for - Restaurant closes at 9.30 but no problem they served us up a magnificent dinner and no rush or complaints. Best meal I have had in a long time - duck was delicious. Perfectly located for the lovely town of Ennis which is bustling. - 40 minutes  drive to the Cliffs of Moher and 50 mins to Doolin - Had a wonderful stay I cannot praise the staff highly enough. Will definitely be returning and as I am an Irish person very proud to recommend this hotel. Fantastic value for money.  Huge thank you all.

Just a quick note to the management and staff of Temple Gate Hotel to thank you all sincerely for a wonderful stay that both my parents, myself and my children had over the last few days. We had a very relaxing time and would like particularly to thank Michael for his wonderful attention and conversation while working strenuously in the restaurant and also sincere thanks to Anna on Reception who again gave us great attention and help with the booking and advice on where to go in Ennis. I travel extensively and it is fair to say that it is not that often that you get that genuine warm welcome so again thank you and in these particularly difficult time I feel it is nice to hear genuine positive feedback.

It all added up to a very enjoyable stay and we will definitely be back again in the future. For the record it is my parent's third stay in your wonderful hotel.

Kind regards

Mark Congdon (August 2009)

Dear Temple Gate Hotel

After some very bad accommodation experiences whilst on holidays, we were all very relieved to stay at your hotel. First impressions of staff and rooms were reflective of our short stay - courteous, helpful, considerate, excellent presentation. Breakfast was great and service excellent. Special appreciation to Patricia who was in the bar the night we arrived too late for dinner - she provided us with sandwiches and a smile!

Cheers Margaret Richards, July 2009

Thank you so much for all the great tips and for making us feel so welcome at your hotel and County Clare. We met John Madden today and told him how much we appreciated our stay and your helpfulness. We are also looking forward to a book on County Clare that will be coming out soon and that John offered to send to us.

We did climb on Sunday to the summit of Mullagh More ... what a beautiful mountain it is. On the way and coming back we stopped in at Bofey Quinn's for some great meals. I told our waitress that I would recommend to Niall (the owner) a raise in pay for the chef, because the food, especially the three different kinds of potatoes, were so good. She then laughed and told me that Niall was the chef that day! So, we all had a good laugh, and, of course, Niall had a good laugh, too!

We are sad to leave today but look forward to coming back again.

Thanks again.

Mam and Dad went to the Temple Gate last night and she sent me a text to tell you that it was excellent, food, service, whole thing Mam said was really fabulous. And great value. And she should know........ 35 years in the business.

Very nice rooms and friendly helpful staff at check in / out and in the pub and restaurant. Everyone recognized a weary traveller and responded with smiles and a helpful attitude. It was nice to be greeted in this way. A very easy drive from Shannon airport 15-20 minutes. Just follow the signs when you get to Ennis, the hotel is next door to the tourist centre, downtown. There is plenty of free parking and the Porter came out to the lot to explain the local parking and the hotel parking areas. Ennis is lovely and sets a happy friendly tone.

Very clean, comfortable hotel with great food, friendly staff and central location to Ennis town for shopping.
Bernadette, solo traveller, Belfast - April 15th 2009

While staying at the hotel I loved the first impression it created, very stylish and comfortable which I think would suit families, couples or singles looking for a comfortable stylish modern hotel to relax and unwind in or a base to pursue an active break.
Dermot young couple Cavan - March 30th 2009

The decor is modern and cosy, staff are friendly, location is right in centre of town. My favourite thing about the hotel was the food- the hotel has a Rosette and we had a fabulous meal in there, the bar food is also really good
Tina, Dublin - February 2009

I have just returned from a tree night stay at the Temple Gate Hotel in Ennis. My experience while there could not be faulted! The staff were welcoming, friendly and eager to help in any way. Decor- a clever blend of new and old and my room was tasteful, clean, comfortable and quiet as I had requested. Dining room had a pleasant ambience which allowed the diner to relax and chat over a well presented and varied menu.

The comfortable non intrusive Library room was ideal for meeting personal friends. As this is a family run hotel. It was refreshing to be welcomed by the owners with a keen interest in all guest's needs and requests- this is sadly a rare occurrence in most hotels today.

I found ample parking and was helped with my luggage which really wrapped up three delightful nights. I have given this hotel as "Excellent" as I believe it provides a four star standard with three prices!
Mona, Dublin - February 2009

I found it pleasant, warm comfortable, staff were friendly and parking was not a problem.

This is our 2nd time to stay at this hotel and this time it was for a wedding at the hotel.

It was fantastic! The hotel has been completely done since we were last there (which was over a year ago) and is incredible. The food was fantastic, the room looked great and all-in-all it was a great wedding. We stayed for 2 nights and the day after the wedding we ate dinner in the restaurant and then stayed in the bar all night. There was live music there and the bride and groom from the day before joined us so there was great fun had by all.

I was so impressed by this hotel that we are sending my mother and father in law there for a weekend for their 40th wedding anniversary at the end of the year.
Emma, Castlebar - November 2008

A group of eight of us spent 3 nights in September and it was fantastic. The location was perfect, right in the middle of the town. One of the nights we ate in the restaurant and it was fantastic. We also ate bar food for 2 of the days for lunch and it was excellent.

The rooms were really lovely and the staff were very nice and efficient. Definitely one of the nicest hotels I have stayed in

Dear Geraldine and all the staff at Temple Gate Thank you for helping to make our day so perfect. We had an absolute ball.
April and Adrian Cole - July 2008

Just a little note to thank you all for everything. The renovations are beautiful (guests still talking about the Great Hall) but more importantly everyone commented on the very friendly and helpful staff. We could not have asked for a better service or team. The waitresses, bar staff and even the night porter were friendly and kind a you assisting in creating the homely relaxed day we always wanted. Geraldine you were always there helping out even on the day of our wedding.
Best wishes Dee & Gary McGivney - May 2008

I would just like to say thank you for all of the help that we received from the staff in the Temple Gate, which went a long way in ensuring that our training course ran very smoothly. We were very impressed with how courteous and pleasant everyone was from the reception staff to the Hotel porters.
